this has been one amazing week. i have done so much in such a short amount of time, see the roger brown study collection, practice african drumming and dancing, went to the mexican fine arts museum, saw the johnnie lee gray exhibit, saw perormances, went to some of the river north art galleries, and got an exculsive preview of the henry darger exhibit at intuit(click). it's been a ton of fun, and i am glad to have had the oppurtunity to see all of that great art. and i would highly recommend to people (who don't have sensitive eyes) to go to intuit(click) and check out henry darger's art. darger lived in chicago and was a recluse in his apartment for thirty years. in those years he wrote a 15,000 page epic (no lie!) about seven little girls that try to save the world from evil. he composed these massive paintings and disturbing sketches (such as dark hooded men torturing and choking little girls) to illustrate the book, and they are truly a sight to see. try to think of it as alice in wonderland, but much more surreal and violent. very, very interesting stuff. go check it out, if you can.
